Theory & Aural Skills Course (OPUS Piano Grade 4-6 & Strings Grades 3-5)
$360
Purchase required to enroll
Required in order to complete OPUS Piano Grade 6 and OPUS Strings Grade 7.
Music theory is essential for any student who are learning to play an instrument! It helps students understand how a piece of music works and improves critical thinking skills. A solid foundation in theory helps students to process musical information quickly so that they can master songs faster. Topics covered will be working on tonality, scales, intervalic relations, rhythm, chords, harmony, and many more fundamental materials.
Aural skills will also be emphasized, as they are an integral component of music theory. Aural skills, or ear training, will help students develop the ability to accurately hear and identify different elements while listening to music. They greatly improve a student’s ability to detect what is off-pitch, help their ability to hear if a chord or scale works in a song, and are a key component to figuring music out by ear and improvisation.
